About
This shrub or small tree typically reaches up to 6 metres tall, featuring bark that peels and flakes as it ages. Its elliptic to lance-shaped leaves are green, often with soft hairs on their undersides. Cream to pale yellow, linear-lanceolate flowers emerge from the leaf axils. The oblong, light green fruits contain dark brown seeds enveloped in scarlet flesh. It is native to coastal forests and bushlands of Kenya and Tanzania.

Ideal for restoration in sandy, well-drained coastal areas of Kilifi, this species thrives in full sun to partial shade. Its natural shrub or small tree form makes it suitable for background planting or as a specimen in a native garden.
