About
Vepris ngamensis is synonymous with Vepris amaniensis, a glabrous shrub native to tropical eastern Africa. It typically features unifoliolate or occasionally 2-3 foliolate leaves, with elliptic leaflets characterised by a short, broad acumen and numerous gland dots on their lower surfaces. Petioles can be round or sometimes winged, and its inflorescences may be glabrous or pubescent.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species is native to the wet tropical biome, found in areas such as the East Usambara Mountains in Tanzania, with specimens also collected from the southeastern coast of Kenya. It thrives in relatively undisturbed evergreen forest and is suitable for shaded, well-drained locations in a Kilifi-coast garden or restoration project, mimicking forest understorey conditions.
