About
Vangueria loranthifolia is indigenous to southeastern Kenya and northeastern Tanzania, growing as a shrub or small tree. It is typically found in seasonally dry tropical biomes.
Where it works in Kilifi
Native to southeastern Kenya, this species is well-suited for Kilifi Coast gardens and landscapes. It thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers well-drained soils. It can be incorporated as an indigenous specimen or used in restoration efforts.
Growing notes
This is a slow-growing species, typically increasing in height by less than 50 cm annually. Once established, it is drought tolerant, preferring a mean annual rainfall between 800-1,200mm and succeeding in well-drained soils with a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5.
