About
This species is a scrambling shrub or small tree, sometimes growing as a liana, native to coastal Southeast Kenya and Northeast Tanzania. Its young shoots are covered in characteristic dark, star-shaped hairs, while its leaves are oblong to oblanceolate, up to 14.3 cm long, and become less hairy with age. Pale to golden-yellow flowers, marked with maroon at the base, appear singly, and typically grow in wet tropical bushland or woodland at altitudes of 45–180 metres.
Where it works in Kilifi
As a native of Kilifi's coastal bushland and woodland, this species is well-suited for restoration projects in similar wet tropical biomes. It can be cultivated as a scrambling shrub, small tree, or liana, adapting to various roles in a garden or landscape.
