About
This liane climbs to 6 metres or higher, featuring reddish-brown, sometimes peeling bark. Younger stems are typically covered in numerous fleshy protuberances, each crowned with stinging hairs. It is found in coastal forests, evergreen scrub, and transitional rainforest, often in limestone areas and forest glades.

Ideal for coastal gardens in Kilifi, this liane thrives in partial to full shade, making it suitable for understory planting or growing over rocks and trees. It prefers well-drained, fertile soil with moderate to high moisture levels.
Growing notes
Requires a humid environment and consistently moist soil, though it is moderately drought-tolerant once established. Water every 2-3 weeks, ensuring the soil doesn't become waterlogged. Handle with care during pruning and planting due to the presence of stinging hairs.
