About
Holst's Turraea is a fast-growing, evergreen small tree, typically reaching up to 10-15 metres tall. It features alternate, rough-textured leaves that are lanceolate-elliptic to elliptic, and up to 8 cm long, with inconspicuous tufts of hairs in the nerve axils on the underside. Its jasmine-scented, white-yellow flowers are pendulous with five linear-spathulate petals, developing into woody, depressed-globose capsules that nearly cover the seeds with an aril.
Where it works in Kilifi
This adaptable small tree thrives in moist, well-drained soils, tolerating both full sun and partial shade. It is suitable as an ornamental garden plant or a small shade tree in coastal Kilifi gardens.
