About
Triumfetta heterocarpa is a perennial woody-based herb or shrub that typically reaches up to 1.5 metres in height. Its leaves are suborbicular to subelliptic, measuring between 0.8–6 cm long, with crenate to crenate-serrate margins. The plant produces clusters of yellow flowers, which develop into globose to ellipsoid fruits covered in hooked bristles. This species naturally occurs in various tropical African habitats, including Acacia-Commiphora bushland and sandy riverbanks.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species thrives in varied soils, from sandy to loamy or stony, reflecting its natural habitat in Acacia-Commiphora bushland and alluvial woodlands. It is suitable for dryland and riparian restoration areas in coastal Kilifi and can also integrate into mixed borders.
