About
This species is typically a shrub, although it can occasionally grow into a small tree, often with crooked trunks. Its elliptical leaves are sometimes white-pubescent when new, maturing to a darker shade with smooth margins. It produces numerous, sweetly scented flowers, usually white, which develop into drupaceous, often red berries.
Where it works in Kilifi
This plant adapts well to conditions ranging from full sun to partial shade and thrives in reasonable soil. Given its shrubby habit and reported drought tolerance, it is suitable for garden specimens or restoration planting in the Kilifi-coast region.
