About
Thunbergia holstii is an erect shrub or subshrub growing up to 1.5-2 metres tall. It features quadrangular young branches with greyish to brownish bark, which are narrowly winged and have small pseudo-stipular spines. Its solitary flowers have a purple to dark blue corolla limb and upper tube, a whitish lower tube, and a yellow throat.
Where it works in Kilifi
This ornamental shrub thrives in Kilifi in full sun to partial shade, benefiting from some afternoon shade in hot climates. It requires well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Plant as a specimen shrub or for informal hedging.
