About
Tarenna pavettoides subsp. friesiorum is a shrub or tree native to Central Kenya, growing primarily in wet tropical biomes. It features large, glossy, bright to dark green leaves, often elliptic with conspicuously raised veins and a pointed drip-tip. The plant produces sweetly scented, white to cream flowers and small, round, black, fleshy fruits.
Where it works in Kilifi
This subspecies thrives in moist situations, making it suitable for gardens in the Kilifi-coast region, particularly alongside streams or ponds. It can serve as a specimen plant, provide shade, or form a screen in areas with ample moisture and warm summer conditions.
