About
This erect annual herb typically grows 30-90 cm tall, with slender, branched stems covered in fine hairs. Its opposite, ovate to elliptic leaves have serrated margins and three prominent veins. Small yellow flower heads, composed of both ray and disc florets, appear in clusters in leaf axils and at stem tips.
Where it works in Kilifi
An excellent choice for naturalising disturbed areas or for soil stabilisation in sunny to partially shaded locations. It thrives in well-drained loamy to sandy soils and tolerates a range of conditions common on the Kilifi coast.
Growing notes
Cinderella weed is a fast-growing annual with a short life cycle. It prefers moderate moisture but is resilient once established, thriving in tropical and subtropical temperatures. Be aware it can spread readily through prolific seed production.
