About
Synadenium pereskiifolium is a laxly-branched, evergreen succulent shrub or small tree, typically reaching up to 5 metres in height. Native to East tropical Africa, including Kenya, it produces a copious, toxic milky latex. Its fleshy, alternate leaves contribute to its succulent nature, adapting it to dry environments.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species thrives in full sun to partial shade and requires well-draining, sandy or rocky soil. It is suitable for xeriscapes, restoration, or as a specimen plant in coastal and riverine woodland settings, tolerating dry conditions.
