About
This evergreen tree typically reaches heights of 7.5 to 10 metres. It features yellow flowers with five petals, and its fruits are explosively dehiscent, scattering small, black, kidney-shaped seeds. Native to East tropical Africa, including Kenya and Tanzania, it thrives in dry evergreen and riverine forests, as well as lowland woodlands, preferring limestone, sandy, and basaltic soils.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, this tree is suitable for coastal Kilifi gardens, especially in restoration projects or as a specimen tree. It adapts well to limestone, sandy, or basaltic soils typical of the region, and is native to coastal forest fragments.
Growing notes
Propagation can be achieved by seed or cuttings, requiring full sun and regular watering during establishment. Once mature, this species is adapted to seasonally dry conditions.
