About

This woody liana is native to various forest types across tropical Africa. It produces clusters of small, greenish-white or yellowish flowers, followed by small, often red or black, fleshy fruits.

Where it works in Kilifi

Ideal for climbing up trees, trellises, or fences in semi-shaded to sunny positions. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soils and is excellent for adding vertical interest, creating a natural screen, or for forest edge restoration.

Growing notes

Once established, it exhibits a moderate to fast growth rate and is drought-tolerant. Regular pruning may be required to manage its vigorous climbing habit and direct its growth effectively.
