This evergreen typically grows as a bush or small tree, reaching 1.8 to 7 metres in height. It features leathery, oblanceolate to obovate leaves. Sweetly scented, solitary white flowers with reddish-purple spots emerge, characterized by exceptionally long tubes up to 24 cm. Ovoid fruits, 2.5–3.2 cm long, are covered in golden pubescence.
