Rhodopentas parvifolia is a subshrub typically growing 0.6–2.5 metres tall, with woody, erect or straggling, often irregularly branched stems. Its elliptic-lanceolate to oblong-elliptic leaves measure 1.2–9 cm long and 0.3–2 cm wide, featuring acute tips and cuneate bases, and can be hairy or smooth. The plant produces scarlet, occasionally pink or white, star-shaped flowers in terminal clusters, usually 2–3 cm wide and often few-flowered. This species is native to eastern tropical Africa, inhabiting seasonally dry tropical biomes like dry bushlands and sandy forests. The roots and bark are traditionally used in Kenya to treat vomiting, malaria, and constipation in children.
