About
An ephemeral succulent herb, this plant grows up to 10 cm tall and may or may not branch from its base. It naturally occurs in coastal sand dunes and coral, or in sand pockets within clearings of Grewia-Commiphora scrub, near sea-level in Tropical Africa.
Where it works in Kilifi
Ideal for coastal Kilifi gardens, this species thrives in full sun and well-drained sandy or coral-rich soils. It is suitable for rock gardens, beachfront locations, or as a low-growing plant in hot, dry spots, providing a unique textural element.
Growing notes
Highly drought-tolerant once established, this plant prefers full sun and requires minimal watering. Overly wet soil conditions can lead to root problems.
