About
A dwarf epiphytic orchid, typically growing up to 7.5 cm tall, featuring clustered, conical pseudobulbs and 2-3 narrowly elliptic leaves. It produces erect inflorescences with 3-4 wonderfully fragrant, mustard-yellow flowers that are purplish towards the base, and have a white, pubescent, three-lobed lip. This species is native to montane forests of southeastern Kenya.
Where it works in Kilifi
This montane epiphyte thrives when mounted on tree branches or bark in a well-shaded, humid spot in a Kilifi garden, such as under dense canopy. Provide good air circulation and protection from direct sunlight.
Growing notes
This warm-growing orchid prefers semi-shade and moderately damp conditions. Water regularly from late spring to summer, reducing frequency in cooler months, though no specific rest period is noted. Maintain temperatures between 10-29°C and fertilise lightly twice monthly during active growth.
