A recently described species from Tanzania, Polyceratocarpus askhambryan-iringae, features axillary inflorescences with staminate and bisexual flowers, and multi-seeded monocarps containing pitted seeds. These trees are typically found in humid, tropical to montane forest environments.
Where it works in Kilifi
Considering the natural habitat of related species in wet tropical and montane forests, this tree would be suitable for a Kilifi-coast garden in a sheltered, part-shade to full-shade location. It requires consistently moist, well-draining, rich soil, making it ideal for forest restoration or as an understory specimen.
