About
This evergreen, perennial vine is known for its glossy, heart-shaped leaves, typically 10-18 cm long, which are dark green and prominently ribbed. It produces tiny white flowers in cylindrical spikes. The plant develops adventitious roots at its nodes, enabling it to climb. It is native to Southeast Asia and widely cultivated for its leaves.

Ideal for tropical gardens on the Kilifi coast, this vine thrives in partial shade to filtered sunlight, though it can tolerate full sun if watered consistently. It requires rich, well-drained, moisture-retentive soil with ample organic matter. Train it to climb trees, poles, or trellises, or allow it to grow as a vigorous ground cover.
