About
This clumping palm typically grows with multiple stems, reaching 7.5 to 15 metres in height. It features arching, pinnate leaves that are bright to deep green and armed with long, sharp spines at their base. The plant produces edible, oblong, orange fruits, approximately 2.5 cm in diameter, which are borne in large, drooping clusters.
Where it works in Kilifi
Well-suited for Kilifi-coast gardens, this palm thrives in full sun and is adaptable to various well-drained soils, including sandy and loamy types. Its multi-stemmed, spreading habit makes it ideal as a dramatic specimen tree for large lawns or as part of a dense wildlife garden planting, particularly near water features.

The Senegal date palm exhibits a moderate growth rate and, once established, is notably drought-tolerant, though periodic watering enhances its appearance and growth.
