About
This scrambling shrub or small tree typically grows 1.5–7 metres tall. Its obovate leaves, 1.2–4.8 cm long, are found on very short spurs and feature scattered, dot-shaped to linear bacterial nodules. White, tubular flowers are borne singly or in pairs, sessile on these leafy spurs, developing into small fruits around 5–6 mm in diameter.

Ideal for coastal Kilifi gardens, this species thrives in well-drained sandy soils and bright, indirect sunlight, though it can tolerate some partial shade. It is suitable for restoration plantings within coastal thickets or as a specimen shrub, attracting pollinators.
Growing notes
Growth rate is initially slow, but accelerates once established. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant, requiring watering every 2-3 weeks in dry periods, allowing soil to partially dry between sessions.
