About
This tufted perennial grass typically grows erect to a height of 50–200 cm. Its leaf blades are 15–50 cm long and 2–10 mm wide, tapering to a point. The plant produces an oblong panicle inflorescence, 10–28 cm in length, featuring small, smooth spikelets. It is native to grasslands, bushlands, or deciduous woodlands across parts of tropical East and Southern Africa.
Where it works in Kilifi
Suitable for areas with full sun in a Kilifi-coast garden or landscape. It thrives in argillaceous (clayey) or arenaceous (sandy) soils and can be utilised in naturalised zones or for ecological restoration projects.
