About
This species grows as a shrub or a slender tree, reaching heights of 1.8 to 18 metres. It features smooth, pale grey-brown bark and spirally arranged imparipinnate leaves, up to 30 cm long, with elliptic-oblong, hairless leaflets often having a drip tip. The tree produces white or cream unisexual flowers in spikes or racemes, followed by orange-yellow, sometimes velvety, ovoid fruits up to 2.5 x 2 cm, containing 2-3 carpels joined at the base.
Where it works in Kilifi
Thriving in evergreen forests, especially in coastal areas, this species is well-suited for a Kilifi-coast garden or landscape. It can serve as a specimen or shade tree in areas that replicate its natural forest habitat, requiring ample space due to its potential height.
