About
This low-growing, herbaceous plant can be either annual or perennial, forming creeping stems that readily root at the nodes. Its distinctive trifoliate leaves feature three heart-shaped leaflets, which may be green or purple and characteristically fold at night. Small, five-petalled yellow flowers are produced, followed by cylindrical seed pods that explosively discharge seeds when mature.
Where it works in Kilifi
Well-suited for open, disturbed areas or as a dense ground cover in a Kilifi-coast garden, this plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and a variety of well-drained soils. Due to its vigorous spreading habit, it is often best contained in pots or used in areas where its expansion can be managed, such as restoration sites or between paving.

Creeping Woodsorrel is a fast-growing plant that spreads readily via creeping stems and explosively dispersed seeds, requiring minimal water once established.
