About

A majestic native tree, the Coastal Oldfieldia develops into a canopy or emergent specimen in mature forests. It features an open crown of attractive trifoliate leaves and produces distinctive woody, three-valved fruits.

Where it works in Kilifi

Ideal as a grand shade tree or a prominent specimen in larger gardens and landscapes. Its Near Threatened status also makes it an excellent choice for restoration projects, particularly in sunny, well-drained locations on the Kilifi coast. Allow ample space for its mature spread.

Growing notes

Once established, this tree exhibits a moderate to fast growth rate and is remarkably drought-tolerant, requiring minimal supplementary water. Being native to the region, it is exceptionally hardy and adapted to local conditions.
