About
This branched shrub or small tree typically grows 1-6 metres tall, featuring smooth bark. Its elliptic to oblong-elliptic leaves, 1.5–9.2 cm long, are shiny pale green above and brownish beneath with prominent, finely reticulate venation. Sweetly scented white flowers, 1.2–1.5 cm long, appear in axillary clusters, followed by small cylindric immature fruits.
Where it works in Kilifi
Originating from seasonally dry tropical biomes in coastal East Africa, including Kenya, this species is well-suited for similar conditions found in Kilifi. It thrives naturally at altitudes between 30 and 360 metres.
Growing notes
Adapted to seasonally dry tropical climates, this species should be considered drought-tolerant once established. Specific growth rate and hardiness details for cultivation are not widely documented.
