About
This evergreen tree, reaching 3 to 40 metres tall, features a dense, rounded crown and releases milky sap when cut. Its obovate-oblong leaves are distinctive, dark green on top with silvery-white velvety hairs underneath, giving a discolorous appearance. Small, creamy-yellow flowers appear in axillary clusters, developing into edible, juicy yellow to red fruits.

This adaptable tree is ideal for creating deep shade in a Kilifi-coast garden or larger landscape, thriving in full sun to semi-shade. It prefers well-drained soils, including sandy, loamy, or clay types, and is suitable for restoration plantings in coastal evergreen or dry forests.
