Lannea cotoneaster is a shrub commonly found in coastal Kenyan bushland, typically at elevations between 75 and 600 metres. Like other species in the Lannea genus, it is characterised by imparipinnate leaves and is often deciduous. Many plants in this genus are utilised in traditional medicine, with their bark and leaves used to address conditions such as fever, inflammatory states, pain, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species is well-suited for coastal bushland gardens in Kilifi, thriving in well-drained, sandy soils. It can serve as a specimen shrub or be incorporated into restoration projects in full sun areas, demonstrating resilience against dry conditions and wind once established.
