Kraussia kirkii is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to southeastern Kenya, Tanzania, and northern Mozambique. It typically grows to about 2-3 metres tall, featuring rough, grey bark and glossy upper leaf surfaces. Its flowers are described as greenish-cream or creamy-green, and it is primarily found in seasonally dry tropical biomes, including evergreen forest patches near mangrove edges and on sandy soils within mixed semi-deciduous forests.

This species is well-suited for coastal Kilifi gardens and restoration projects, particularly in areas with seasonally dry conditions or sandy soils. It can be planted as a specimen shrub or integrated into mixed plantings, thriving in environments that mimic forest margins or areas adjacent to mangroves.
