About
This species is a climbing shrub or small tree, distinguished by its mid to dark green leaves and smooth, greyish-brown bark. It produces sweetly scented, white flowers in many-flowered cymes from August to January, followed by oblong or obcordate fruits between February and May. Native to tropical Africa, it is often found in riverine areas, lowland rainforests, and dry deciduous forests, and is valued as an ornamental plant.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soils, thriving in conditions similar to its natural riverine and lowland forest habitats. It can serve as an attractive ornamental shrub or small tree in Kilifi gardens, especially in areas with consistent moisture.
