About
Justicia drummondii is a perennial or rhizomatous geophyte native to southeastern Kenya, thriving primarily in wet tropical biomes.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species is well-suited for a Kilifi coast garden due to its native range and preference for wet tropical biomes. As a perennial herbaceous plant, it would work well in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in partial shade, ideal for mixed borders or restoration areas.
Growing notes
As a plant from a wet tropical biome, Justicia drummondii would require consistent moisture, especially during establishment. Its rhizomatous nature suggests a potentially vigorous growth habit once settled in the warm conditions typical of the Kenyan coast.
