About
Jasminum stenolobum is a scrambling shrub or climber, evergreen with glossy, dark green leaves that vary in shape. It produces abundant, sweetly scented, star-shaped white flowers, often blushed pink beneath, followed by black berries that attract birds.
Where it works in Kilifi
This jasmine thrives in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Its versatile habit allows it to be grown as a specimen shrub, a screen, or trained as a climber, ideal for courtyards where its fragrance can be enjoyed.
Growing notes
A fast-growing evergreen, it is relatively drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during warmer periods. Being frost sensitive, it is well-suited for the warm Kilifi coast, and regular pruning helps maintain a bushy form if not climbing.
