About
This species is a scrambling shrub or liane native to East and Central Africa, often found in rainforest clearings, wooded grasslands, and bushlands. Its young branches are densely pubescent, and its simple, ovate leaves measure 2.5–8 cm long. It produces sweetly scented white flowers, sometimes with a red tube, in clusters.
Where it works in Kilifi
This plant is suitable for a Kilifi-coast garden, thriving in full sun to partial shade within fertile, well-drained soil. Its scrambling habit makes it ideal as a specimen plant, trained on a trellis, or used to create a fragrant screen.
Growing notes
This jasmine species is a vigorous, medium to fast-growing plant. Once established, it is fairly drought-tolerant but benefits from regular watering during dry spells, ensuring the soil is moist but not waterlogged. Pruning after flowering helps maintain its shape and size.
