About
This succulent grows as low clumps, spreading horizontally rather than growing tall. It features green-yellowish stems adorned with reddish spots and serrated tubercles. The plant produces distinctive five-pointed, star-shaped flowers that are typically yellow-orange, sometimes displaying pink or purple hues in shaded conditions.
Where it works in Kilifi
This succulent thrives in bright light to partial shade, ideally situated beneath other plants or in a spot that receives morning sun and afternoon shade. It requires a very well-draining soil mix, making raised beds or shallow containers suitable. It works well as ground cover or in hanging baskets within a Kilifi-coast garden.
Growing notes
Growth is slow, forming clusters up to 10 cm high and spreading up to 30 cm wide. Water moderately during the growing season, ensuring the soil dries out completely between waterings, and keep almost dry in winter to prevent rot. Protect plants from prolonged exposure to harsh full sun to avoid scorching.
