About

This herbaceous climber or prostrate creeper is characterised by its attractive heart-shaped to lobed leaves. It produces delicate trumpet-shaped flowers, often white or pale yellow with a prominent purple or darker throat, appearing intermittently.

Where it works in Kilifi

Ideal as a groundcover for sunny to partially shaded spots, it also climbs well on fences or trellises. Plant it in well-draining soil, allowing space for its spreading habit, roughly 1-2 metres apart for groundcover.

Growing notes

This species is a vigorous grower, establishing quickly and proving drought-tolerant once mature. It thrives in the warm Kilifi climate with minimal care, though its enthusiastic spreading habit may require occasional management to prevent it from outcompeting other plants.
