About

This attractive shrub produces a profusion of star-shaped white flowers, often fragrant, that cover its branches for extended periods. Following the blooms, small, dark, edible fruits develop, adding further interest to its dense, bushy habit.

Where it works in Kilifi

Ideal for mixed borders, as a specimen shrub, or for ecological restoration projects in Kilifi, this species thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils. Plant with adequate spacing to allow its natural bushy form to develop, perhaps 2-3 metres apart.

Growing notes

It establishes readily, exhibiting a moderate to fast growth rate, and becomes relatively drought-tolerant once mature. Provide regular watering during its establishment phase and protect young plants from strong winds if in exposed sites.
