About
Grewia stuhlmannii is a shrub, often scandent, growing up to 8 metres tall. It features leathery, obovate to oblong leaves, shiny above and roughly stellate-pubescent beneath, with serrated to shallowly crenate margins. Its white flowers eventually turn yellowish-brown, and the fruits are red and fleshy, typically 2-4 lobed and 11-15 mm wide.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species is indigenous to coastal Kenya, including Kilifi, thriving in forest, forest edges, and thicket habitats at elevations up to 500 metres. It is suitable for sunny to partially shaded garden spots with well-drained soil, ideal for restoration projects, informal hedges, or as a scrambling specimen plant.
