About
A scandent bush, woody climber, or small tree reaching 6 to 9 metres tall, with grey or grey-red branches. Its leaves are obovate to elliptic-oblong, 5–19.5 cm long, with shallowly wavy margins and minute teeth. Flowers feature red, finely pubescent sepals measuring 20–40 mm long and 8–20 mm wide.
Where it works in Kilifi
Native to the Kilifi District, this species thrives in open woodlands, thickets, and along forest margins within an altitude range of 50–1100 metres. It is suitable for well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade, making it ideal for restoration projects or as a specimen tree in a coastal garden.
