About
Grandidiera boivinii is a shrub or small tree, typically growing 2–6 metres tall. Its alternate leaves are elliptic to oblanceolate or obovate, 8–25 cm long, with entire or slightly wavy margins. Small, whitish or yellowish flowers are borne in short, spike-like racemes, leading to distinctive suborbicular capsules around 1.7 cm across, featuring 4–8 thin, papery, spreading wings.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species thrives in coastal and riverine forests, semi-evergreen thickets, and woodland savannas. It prefers well-drained sandy or loamy soils and can be planted in partial shade to full sun as an understory shrub, specimen, or for restoration in suitable habitats.
