About
Euphorbia pervittata is a caudiciform plant, endemic to Kenya, particularly found in Garissa in the eastern region. It typically grows to 30 centimetres in height, developing a caudex up to eight centimetres in diameter. The plant produces yellow to pinkish-orange flowers and striking red fruits.
Where it works in Kilifi
This species thrives in well-drained soil and requires abundant sunlight, making it suitable for a sunny, dry spot in a Kilifi-coast garden. Given its small size, it would be an excellent specimen plant or addition to a rock garden.
Growing notes
Once established, Euphorbia pervittata is known for its drought tolerance and prefers minimal watering. All Euphorbia species produce a milky latex sap which can be irritating and toxic, so handle with care.
