This indigenous species is a spiny, evergreen shrub or small tree, typically growing 3-8 metres tall, with arching slender branches. It features smooth grey bark and oval, pale green leaves. Its yellow-green, petalless flowers develop into orange-red, fleshy, plum-like fruits up to 2 cm long, distinctively subtended by enlarged, hairy calyx lobes.
