About
Cordia somaliensis is a scrambling shrub or bushy tree that typically grows to a height of 1.8 to 6 metres. It is characterised by slender branchlets densely covered in short, whitish hairs, and oblanceolate-oblong leaves which are slightly rough above and densely hairy beneath. The plant produces orange, edible fruits and its coastal dune habitat faces significant decline.

This species is well-suited for coastal gardens and landscapes in Kilifi, particularly in areas with sandy soils or overlying limestone. It can thrive in low deciduous bushland and on sand dunes.
