About
Cordia guineensis is a very branched, erect shrub or tree with terete, scabrid-pubescent branches. Its alternate, elliptic leaves are subentire and shortly scabrid, typically 2–3 inches long. The polygamous, sweet-smelling, pale yellow flowers are salver-shaped and open at night, appearing in axillary, short corymbose panicles. The fruit is ovoid, subacuminate, glabrous, 1-seeded, and approximately gooseberry-sized, enclosed by the calyx up to its middle.
