About
This species is a shrub or small tree, sometimes growing as a liane up to 25 metres tall. It features opposite, elliptical leaves that are typically shiny green above and have minute silvery scales underneath. Small, scented white flowers appear in spikes, followed by reddish-brown, broadly elliptic fruits with four papery wings. It is native to tropical Africa and can be found in riverine forests, savannas, and along rivers.

This adaptable species thrives in full sun and well-drained loam, making it suitable for Kilifi-coast gardens. It can be cultivated as a specimen shrub or small tree, or supported as a liane for vertical interest in restoration areas or larger landscapes.
