About
Cola pseudoclavata is an evergreen shrub or tree, typically reaching 5 to 21 metres in height. It has dark green, glossy leaves and produces white, five-petalled flowers with a yellow centre, which develop into small, dark brown nut-like seeds. This species is native to riverine forests and forest edges in East tropical Africa, including Kenya.
Where it works in Kilifi
This tree thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it suitable for restoration in riverine habitats or as a shade tree in larger Kilifi-coast gardens.
Growing notes
A fast-growing evergreen, it needs regular watering until established and prefers a hot, humid climate. It can be propagated from seed or cuttings.
