About
This species is a climbing tuberous geophyte native to Central and Southeastern Kenya, extending into Eastern Tanzania. It thrives primarily in seasonally dry tropical biomes. Traditionally, its stems have been utilised for septic swelling and as eardrops.
Where it works in Kilifi
As a climbing tuberous geophyte native to Southeastern Kenya, it is suitable for Kilifi-coast gardens, thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils. It can be used as an ornamental climber for fences or walls, or incorporated into restoration efforts in dry tropical biomes.
Growing notes
Being a tuberous geophyte, this plant is well-adapted to seasonally dry tropical conditions and should tolerate drought once established. It propagates from its tubers and grows as a climbing plant.
