About
This climbing vine features small, heart-shaped leaves and yellow-green flowers, which may also appear bright yellow with white tips. Its small, round seeds develop into thin, light green seedlings. It is found in tropical and subtropical forests, with documented presence in Tanzania and Madagascar, often thriving in moist, shady woodlands and along stream banks.
Where it works in Kilifi
As an ornamental climber, it is best placed in areas receiving full sun to partial shade, ideally with dappled sunlight, in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Provide a support structure for its twining stems.
Growing notes
Propagation is readily achieved by seed or cuttings, with seeds sown in spring or early summer and cuttings taken in late spring. It prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil, but is quite drought-tolerant once established. Occasional pruning helps maintain its shape and promotes vigorous growth.
