About
This showy shrub or small tree typically grows 3-6 metres tall, featuring an upright, sometimes sprawling habit with branches that may have sparse prickles. Its fern-like, twice-pinnate leaves bear numerous small leaflets. Vibrant bowl-shaped flowers, up to 5 cm wide, bloom year-round in tropical climates in terminal racemes, displaying bright orange, red, or yellow petals with prominent long red stamens. These striking blooms attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Ideal for full sun, this plant thrives in moderately fertile, well-drained loamy or sandy soils. It serves beautifully as an ornamental accent, a flowering hedge, or a specimen plant in a Kilifi garden, attracting pollinators. Space plants 1-1.5 metres apart when used in borders or hedges.
