About
Barleria ramulosa is a subshrub or shrub native to Kenya and northern Tanzania, typically found in seasonally dry tropical biomes. It features soft, hairy stems with many short-noded branches and small, sessile, elliptic to obovate leaves (1/3–1/2 inch long) covered in crispate white hairs and scattered brown needle-like hairs. Solitary or rarely paired flowers develop with spiny bracts, leading to small, four-seeded capsules, and the plant is characterised by interpetiolar spines.
Where it works in Kilifi
Given its native range in Kenya's seasonally dry tropical biome, this subshrub or shrub is suitable for restoration projects or informal plantings in drier, well-drained areas of a Kilifi-coast garden.
